Struggling Poet
I came across this site a few weeks ago and I must say I am hooked on it. Definitely. It' s www.plagiarist.com and it features thousands of poems from 20th century poets. I guess for a while now, I've been looking for sites that feature 20th century poets because for one thing, I'd like to know the different styles of poetry writing. I mean, when it comes to writing and all.
I've been writing poems since high school and my notebook will be filled up already! A few pages are left from that old scrappy notebook. Hehe. :) Anyway, I'm not really sure if I want a career in poetry but I want to continue doing this. I want to be able to write poems for as long as I live. Maybe someday, I'll look at my old scappy notebook again and see how I've evolved as a poet. Whatever that means. ------------------------
I'm currently reading "Sputnik Sweetheart" by Haruki Murakami and I guess I'm loving it! :) I find his style of writing witty and funny. Although his novels are originally written in Japanese and then translated in English, I still find them interesting.
There was a part their though that sort of struck me and (almost) brought tears to my eyes. Here it goes:
"No mistake about it. Ice is cold.; roses are red. I'm in love. And this love is about to carry me off somewhere. The current's too overpowering.; I don't have any choice. It may very well be a special place, some place I've never seen before. Danger may be lurking there, something that may end up wounding me deeply, fatally. I might end up losing everything. But there's no turning back. I can only go with the flow. Even if it means I'll be burned up, gone for ever..."
